How-to Guide
Start with one useful question about your sleep or activity—and share only what you choose.
A daily score is a starting point. The more useful question might be: what changed this month, what information is missing, and what should I ask at my next appointment?
Health in ChatGPT can use supported Apple Health information with your permission. This connection already exists; it does not depend on Apple's forthcoming Longevity tab. It also does not mean every new Apple feature or wearable score transfers to ChatGPT. OpenAI's overview.
You need an iPhone, the latest ChatGPT app, and access to Health. Eligible U.S. adults on Free, Go, Plus, or Pro can use it; rollout is gradual. A paid plan is not required. If Health is missing, check for an app update; your account may still be waiting for access. Current availability.
In your wearable's app, check that it shares your chosen information with Apple Health.
Open ChatGPT on your iPhone. Find Health in the sidebar or More menu, then choose Connect Health or Get started.
Choose Apple Health and select the data categories you want to share. Already using Health? Open Health → … → Apple Health.
Let syncing finish, then start with a simple question. ChatGPT asks permission before using connected Health data by default. You can approve one request at a time. Connection instructions.
For a first try, sleep and activity may be enough. You do not need to connect your entire medical history.
Copy one into ChatGPT:
Using the Health data I allow, summarize my sleep and activity over the past four weeks. First tell me which dates and measurements you can actually see. Flag missing days.
I started taking an evening walk two weeks ago. What changed in my recorded sleep or activity before and after? Describe the pattern without assuming the walk caused it.
Turn this summary into three clear questions for my next appointment. Separate what the records show from what we still don't know.
If it overlooks your connected information, add @Health to your question. Some proprietary scores do not transfer, and missing readings can distort a pattern. Compare important numbers with the original app. Data limits.
OpenAI says connected Health data and conversations using it are not used to train its foundation models or target ads. Ordinary chats without connected Health data follow your normal settings. Disconnecting deletes synced source data within 30 days; information already in chats remains until you delete those chats. Health conversations can also create memories when memory is enabled. Privacy and controls.
To stop Apple Health syncing, open Health → … → Apple Health → Disconnect. Disconnect instructions.
Bring persistent changes, symptoms, or confusing results to your clinician. Use the summary to prepare for that conversation—not to diagnose yourself or change treatment. Urgent symptoms need prompt medical care, not a chatbot review.
